Today I dedicated my whole day to My SQL, where I spend it all reading the tutorials which helped me a lot! However, I can’t seem to mange how to work Xampp! It is so complicated. I am still determined to figure out how to work the program. Tomorrow I will continue my reading of the tutorial hoping for some answers!

Week 10

Working on store your information 2 is very complicated. I am still grasping all the information that I have gathered from the book I’m ready. But, after our meeting with Ms. Tridube on Thursday he opened my eyes on many resources that I can use such as online tutorials that gave me step by step guidelines to use XAMPP. This encouraged me in continuing with the project and using both my resources the book and the online tutorials. While surfing the web I have found that many website that provide tutorials for students the main purpose is to enhance students learning.

Microsoft Access 2003 Fundamentals Reflection

NETG Reflection

As this semester begins we started off by working on the first NETG which is an 8hr long assessment online, which is an introduction to Access. Before I started the tutorial I had doubts that I will be able to understand the feature of access and how things work. I believe I had that thought is mind because it has been a long time since I used access in my studies; I always prefer not to use it. As a beginner it seemed very complicated to use it but when I kept practicing on it I started to get the hang of it. Even though Access seems very difficult at the beginning but I have really benefited from this tutorial.

I started by going throw the tutorial and taking note while having Microsoft Access open to help me go throw it step by step. When I was sure I fully understand the steps I started the first assessment which was Table basic. Table basic talks about methods of managing data in a datasheet view which is mainly about inserting, editing, and saving records in a table. To be entirely honest I spent a lot of time on my first attempt, because I was confused a bit. However, by the third try I managed pretty well.

By the time I got to the second assessment I was well prepared to complete the task. When thinking about table you will never think it would be that complicated. But when I begun Manipulating Tables I learned many skills such as entering data into fields and filtering and sorting throw the field. In addition, I was able to move throw the labels by clicking next, last, and pervious button. Filtering base records was very useful where I learned to find name faster, which saved me a lot of time while I was working on my access project. However the process to filtering wasn’t as simple as it seemed.

Final assessment was about Querying Data. I started off by finding query such as name, summary function, and also fields to display. After that I learned how to crosstab throw query by selecting row headings and column headings. This assessment quizzed me on table, show, criteria elements. I mostly enjoyed the calculator field components which at start I wasn’t able to work with, but I kept on practicing till I was able use the mathematical operators.

As I conclude, I never thought that I will be able to understand the fundamentals of Access properly in this short time period. I always imaged that I will take me months to create a table and work with it. Know when I am starting to work on my access project I realized how important the tutorial was, it helped me in getting ahead and understanding what I am working with. It saved me a lot of time when starting the project. Finally that is a lesson to never under estimate yourself and your abilities.

Week 9

I am final getting the hang of MYSQL. It isn’t difficult it just needs time and effort. I am a nearly done with the book I am reading. Hopefully I will start with my part of the project. I have also been using XAMPP while I am reading in order to help me understand the techniques even better.

ECOM-217

Well, to being with I was late for today’s class!! For some personal reason and apparently I missed a lot... Chose the wrong day to be late ... oOo well what happened happened.

ECOM-217 is a very interesting class which I seem to enjoy a lot.
However, I don't really like access for some reason..

At the begging of the year I really had doubt about coming to E-Business and meeting new people, but it is turning up to be an interesting and fun experience.
